The HOPE Foundation is delighted to be featured in the December edition of Yoga Magazine, shining a spotlight on the powerful role the yoga community plays in transforming the lives of street-connected children in Kolkata, India.

This recognition marks another exciting milestone for Yoga for HOPE, our growing global movement that unites yoga teachers, practitioners, and studios in a shared mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children in Kolkata.
A Global Community Supporting Kolkata’s Children
In June this year, yoga teachers from around the world rallied together to support our work through Yoga for HOPE, hosting in-person, online, and on-demand classes throughout June in honour of International Yoga Day. More than 22 teachers took part, raising over £3,500 through more than 200 class bookings, demonstrating the extraordinary generosity and interconnectedness of the global yoga community.

Featured practices included:
A grounding, heartfelt class led by HOPE Patron Simon Low, bringing practitioners together in support of vulnerable children.
Lille Sommerschield’s restorative session held deep within a peaceful Norwegian forest, offering a beautiful reminder of yoga’s connection to nature.
A flowing, riverside practice in Henley-on-Thames led by Ulla Vogl, capturing the calm and unity that yoga inspires.
Why Yoga Matters to HOPE’s Work
For many of the children in HOPE’s care, yoga is part of daily life, supporting physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. It helps them build confidence, resilience, and inner calm in environments that have often lacked safety and stability.
Since 1999, the HOPE Foundation has reached over 3.3 million people in Kolkata, restoring dignity, human rights, and opportunities to the city’s most vulnerable children and families.
Join Yoga for HOPE
We warmly invite more yoga teachers, studios, and practitioners to unite with us. By hosting a class, sharing your practice, or promoting our mission, you can help transform a child’s life in Kolkata.
