On Sunday, 20 April, members of Aaloron, a Yorkshire-based Bengali cultural association, took an inspiring stride towards change by walking a remarkable 422,390 steps as part of the Footsteps for HOPE campaign. Their efforts raised a generous £865, including Gift Aid, to support street-connected children through The Hope Foundation UK.
The scenic route stretched from the roaring Aysgarth Falls to the historic Bolton Castle and back, winding through idyllic valleys, sheep-dotted fields, and carpets of blooming bluebells. The group of 30 walkers, ranging in age from just 4 to 80, displayed boundless enthusiasm and a powerful sense of unity throughout the journey.

Founded nearly two decades ago, Aaloron is dedicated to celebrating Bengali heritage and fostering cultural exchange across communities. The group has been a long-standing supporter of HOPE, previously hosting the ‘I LIVE’ Facebook event in June 2021, which raised £2,388 plus £354 in Gift Aid.
In 2025, Aaloron will mark its 20th anniversary with a series of celebratory events, culminating in a cultural showcase on Saturday, 26 July at The Hockney Theatre, Bradford Grammar School. This milestone event will bring together people from diverse backgrounds through music, dance, and theatre/drama, while also supporting The Hope Foundation UK.
“This celebration is about culture and community,” said an Aaloron member. “@Aaloron20 is a celebration of culture, bringing HOPE for a better future.”
