        25th anniversary – Alpana’s story

        25th anniversary Alpana's story

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Alpana was one of the first girls to be supported by HOPE founder Maureen Forrest when she established the organisation 25 years ago. Now a successful, independent woman, we are delighted to share Alpana’s story.

Alpana’s mother passed away when she was a little girl, and she grew up living with her father, brother and sister by a railway platform. A dangerous place to live, Alpana met with an accident on the platform and lost her right hand.

She was taken into HOPE’s care at the age of 12. A hardworking girl, she completed her formal education before receiving support from HOPE to move into her own apartment.

Through dedication and determination, Alpana successfully passed the exams required to gain a government job and is now employed by the government’s Food Corporation Department. She is happily married to another government employee and owns her own house.

Can you help change the life of a disadvantaged young person through sponsorship?
